The winter of 1915-16 was a particularly cold one making life in the trenches extra grim. On 2nd January, 1916, when the weather was particularly inclement, 6th East Kent (Buffs) of 37 Brigade, 12th Division were holding the line at Givenchy in France on a day when the enemy’s artillery was particularly heavy. The battalion suffered 18 casualties during the day of whom, 4 were killed. One of these was Edward Noble. |
